Sharing Christ in a Hostile Culture
Many pastors we assist in Vietnam face daily hostility and pressure to stop preaching the Gospel. The hardship on believers is great, too. Many are pressured to renounce their faith. Nevertheless, they are standing strong. They testify to God's goodness and provision as they trust Him for daily endurance in difficult circumstances. They say, "Don't pray the persecution stops; pray we have the faith to stand."

A Worthy Investment
The results have been astounding. While these pastors give leadership to existing churches, they also exponentially multiply their efforts through church planting and evangelism. As we provide financial support, the church planters are freed up to minister full-time, sharing Christ and teaching others how to share the Good News. Without our financial support, these pastors would have to divert their time and energy to providing for their families' basic needs.

An Effective Plan
We provide funds for church planters and workers in Vietnam to be trained with a three level focus:

head –  study the Word;
heart –  personal renewal- to be led spiritually through meditation on God's Word, prayer, and fasting;
hand –  immediately put into practice what they have learned.

These three qualities must be in balance to follow Christ's model of ministry. With only head knowledge, the application is lost. With only heart, one relies too much on feelings. With only hand, one relies too much on works, and without hand, one might miss God's call to service and action. The entire program takes 14 years to complete, but they are equipped to minister as they are learning. In order to progress in leadership, the church planter or worker's life and ministry must bear the fruit of Christ's teaching. Through preaching the Gospel, training and evangelism, thousands are coming to faith in Jesus Christ.

The Vietnamese pastor will receive money for food, housing, clothing, and transportation. In many cases, they are able to stretch the support to include evangelistic literature and training materials for their ministry. For workers in rural areas, the family is also given a small plot of land for a garden to supplement our assistance. WorldServe is convinced that a careful balance needs to be struck between providing the necessities of life for these workers, while at the same time encouraging the worker and the church to strive towards independence and self-support.

Donate $40 USD/$50 CDN to support a church planter for one month.
