"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." - Matthew 6:31-33

Natural Disasters in Cuba
Lying at the edge of the Atlantic hurricane belt, Cuba regularly deals with the destruction of tropical storms and hurricanes. In 2002, Hurricanes Isadore and Lili struck Cuba just a month apart from each other; over 60,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. In 2004, Cuba was ravaged by Charlie, a Category 3 hurricane that left 170,000 people without electricity or running water. Even though the Cuban government is well rehearsed at responding to hurricanes, often victims do not have adequate shelter and suffer from food shortages in the weeks after a storm.

Reaching Out to Victims
WorldServe's Needs for Friends initiative reaches hurricane victims for Christ by providing for their needs immediately following a natural disaster through Cuban churches. By meeting the immediate physical needs of victims of natural disasters, WorldServe is able to demonstrate to non-believers the body of Christ in action.

Our project goal for Needs for Friends, a primary WorldServe initiative in Canada, is to raise $500,000 to be deployed for disaster relief over the next five years.

Your donation will help us display mercy in times of crisis and prepare the hearts of unbelievers to hear the Gospel.
