Losing our Identity
To avoid imposing Western methodologies, we at WorldServe willingly lose our identity and work within the framework of the indigenous church. We are less concerned about who gets credit than that the job gets done. We always start by listening to the local Christian leaders so that we can accurately assess the needs and opportunities in each country.

Serving in a New Way
Years ago, WorldServe saw the effectiveness of missionaries reaching to their own culture and asked, "How can we, as Westerners, participate in this incredible spiritual harvest and help the indigenous churches around the world without invalidating their leadership, vision and passion?" There was only one answer: we needed to become "worldservants." We believe that God has raised up WorldServe Ministries to bring desperately needed tools and assistance to the indigenous Church.

In order to protect those who may suffer persecution, torture or imprisonment for their faith in Christ, it is essential that we take a behind-the-scenes, anonymous approach to our work.

Maximizing the Effectiveness of Our Church
Planting Work

Some important principles maximize the effectiveness of our work:

We move quickly and strategically into areas where the Spirit of God is moving.
We utilize existing distribution networks whenever possible, instead of setting up foreign offices.
We work primarily within the church planting movements, where evangelism and discipleship take place in the context of the local church, leading to both explosive and lasting growth.
We are constantly looking for creative ways to give assistance.
We strive to bless what God is already blessing by supplying needed resources.

Trusting God's Timing
We do not seek to initiate any program of church planting on our own. Rather, we wait for God to present these opportunities to us, and then we join hands with the indigenous Church, supply the necessary materials and stand back and watch God work. We desire to give God the credit for any of these great outpourings of the Spirit. No denomination, organization or person can claim to be the agent bringing about the greatest turning to God in history.

Allocating Wisely
WorldServe partners with church-planting movements that have a highly developed system of constituted authority and accountability. In all countries of operation, local leadership supervises its own workers within recognized, structured, national denominations or church-planting movements.

Our assistance is channeled through trusted networks of highly effective and reputable Christian leadership within each country. This allows the pastors to remain focused on God's work within their local churches, rather than the funding from a foreign organization. We maintain a well-documented paper trail, and keep detailed lists of national workers who are receiving assistance.

Assisting Appropriately
Furthermore, WorldServe works closely with the local national church leadership to determine the appropriate assistance. We are convinced that a careful balance needs to be struck between providing the necessities of life and encouraging each worker and the church to strive towards independence and self-support.

With our support, these hardworking pastors assume many leadership roles. They not only guide existing churches, they also exponentially multiply their efforts by overseeing additional church planting and evangelism. With support, their livelihood can focus on sharing Christ, developing independent churches, and teaching others how to share the Good News, and developing independent churches. Without financial support, these pastors would have to divert their time and energy to providing for their families' basic needs.

God has prompted us that while the harvest is ripe, the time to reap is now. The results of the ministry of local church planting movements have been astounding.
