Another pastor, Jin, placed his faith in Christ at the age of 25 and served the Lord for 15 years prior to his arrest in 2004.

Jin was born prematurely into a poor, ordinary family. Because of his preterm birth, his legs and feet had always caused him pain and difficulty walking. As he served the Lord in ministry, he also endured many trials for his faith. Sometimes he became so discouraged he even contemplated turning away. However, God helped him to hold fast to his faith through those difficult times, and he came to know the way of the cross of Christ even more deeply after his arrest in August 2004.

Here is Jin's powerful and compelling story:

The Suffering:
"
When I was arrested, they handcuffed me and put me in a police car. I had no shoes on and they hit me on my face, back and legs. When they learned I couldn't walk well, they beat me more and especially my feet and legs.

Prison was very difficult. At times, they made me march in place for at least an hour. They would often take off their boots to hit me on my face, ears and nose. Blood was everywhere. I would faint, but they would throw water on my face to wake me up to beat me more.

I was questioned 3-4 hours per day and worked hard labor the entire time.

Thinking Like Christ:
Whenever I was beaten, I thought of Jesus. He was mocked, beaten, and lonely, Jesus said "forgive them" when He was on the cross. I too forgave the government officials.

I can say I never really understood the way of the cross until I suffered for Him. Suffering helps me understand the grace of God and the benefits of the way of the cross. Even though I am someone so weak, the Lord used me to lead many to Christ.

Sharing the Burden:
One day, some sisters came to prison to tell me my precious mother died. She was my only living relative on earth. Now I could not even see her, let alone go to her funeral, and I had no money to bury her. I was heartbroken...until I learned from my sisters that you were going to bury my mother. Thank you so much for paying for her burial! That so encouraged me and made me so happy. Thank you so much."

The Return to Service:
"
I was released Dec. 30, 2005. Now that I am out of prison, I am back serving the Lord." With tears in his eyes, Jin said, "Thank you for burying my mother!"
